HILTI DX CARTRIDGES
Not classified as hazardous according to criteria of NOHSC Precautions in
Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing and self contained connection with Fire
breathing apparatus (SCBA) operated in positive pressure mode. Fire near the storage area: Evacuate the danger area, spray storage area and container with water.
Fire in the storage area: Evacuate the danger area, fight the fire from a safe distance and spray the non ignited article to cool them. Burning of large quantities may accelerate to detonation. Inform the emergency services of the nature of the product.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Emergency
Protect the vicinity by excluding the public and all unprotected personnel. Procedures
Raise awareness to the risk of ignition. Employ signage and inform the police. The location of the spillage has to be cleaned. Do not use tools to gather scattered cargo. Gather by hand only and forward to authorised disposal personnel. Exposed explosives must be carefully wiped up and desensitised in a specially marked container of water. If the spillage enters the waterways contact the EPA, or your local water authority. Dispose of waste according to applicable local and national regulations.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Precautions for Safe
Keep away from heat and ignition sources, and ensure good ventilation. Do not Handling
open cartridges with thermal or mechanical force, or subject them to impact, as this risks ignition. Ensure a high level of personal hygiene is maintained by washing hands before eating, drinking, smoking or using toilet facilities.
Intended for use only with power actuated tools. Cartridges should only be handled by qualified persons. Delivery must be in closed original packaging.
Conditions for Safe
Store in a well ventilated area away from sources of ignition. Optimal storage temperature 20°C. To be stored in original packages at temperatures from -20°C to +40°C and in rooms protected from moisture. Short term storage from -40°C to +45°C is possible. Do not store together with incompatible and flammable substances. For information on the design of the storeroom reference should be made to Australian Standard AS 2187.1-1998 Explosives - Storage, transport and use - Storage. Reference should also be made to relevant Commonwealth, State or Territory regulations.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
National Exposure
No value is assigned for this specific material by the National Occupational Standards

STEL (Short Term Exposure Limit): The average airborne concentration over a 15 minute period which should not be exceeded at any time during a normal eight-hour workday.
Engineering
In case of release of internal contents ensure sufficient ventilation to Controls
maintain airborne concentrations below exposure limits and prevent exposure to dusts.
Respiratory
If engineering controls are not effective in controlling airborne exposure Protection
then an approved respirator with a replaceable vapour/mist filter should be used. Reference should be made to Australian/New Zealand Standards AS/NZS 1715, Selection, Use and Maintenance of Respiratory Protective Devices; and AS/NZS 1716, Respiratory Protective Devices, in order to make any necessary changes for individual circumstances. Internal powder should not become airborne unless cartridge is intentionally tampered with or accidentally broken open.
Eye Protection
Safety glasses with side shields, goggles or full-face shield as appropriate recommended. Final choice of appropriate eye/face protection will vary Material Safety Data Sheet
HILTI DX CARTRIDGES
