Serotonin selective reuptake blockers (SSRI’s) – a class of drugs includingfluoxetine (Prozac), fluvoxamine (Luvox), sertraline (Zoloft), and paroxetine(Paxil) – are so designated because they competitively bind to the serotoninmembrane transporter and block it, while having very little affinity for catecholaminetransporters.
