Please review the following instructions, which pertain to your procedure. A nurse will make every effort to contact you prior to your appointment to go over your medical history and to discuss the procedure in more detail. Transportation
You will need a driver to take you home from the procedure, as you will be receiving
Medical Conditions
Recent major dental work (root canal, etc.)
Recent or current infection (cold, cough, sore throat, flu, etc)
Medications
To reduce the risk of bruising you may stop any aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication 3 days before your procedure.
Stop any blood thinning medication 5 days prior to your procedure (Coumadin, Plavix, Aggrenox etc. ). You may continue all other medication.
Notify our office if you are taking any diabetic medication.
Food/Fluids PLEASE DO NOT EAT ANY FOOD OR DRINK ANY MILK PRODUCTS SIX HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR PROCEDURE. YOU MAY HAVE CLEAR LIQUIDS ONLY FOR 2 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR PROCEDURE (BLACK COFFEE, TEA, SODA, CLEAR BROTH.) DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING 2 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR PROCEDURE, THIS INCLUDES GUM, CANDY OR MINTS.
Pregnancy/Breast Feeding
If there is a possibility that you are pregnant or if you are breast feeding it would not be safe to do this procedure at this time.
Once you are scheduled should you develop any type of infection, fever or if you are on antibiotics for any reason, please call to re-schedule your appointment.
*If you have any X-ray or MRI films please bring these with you.*
The procedure is done at Cascade Spine Center, 6464 SW Borland Rd, Suite A-3, Tualatin, OR 97062. For urgent calls on the day of your appointment, contact Cascade Spine Center at (971) 404-3366. If you have any films, please remember to bring them with you. Cascade Spine Center and On-Site Anesthesiawill bill separately from Dr. Swarztrauber. Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Be sure to have a responsible person available to drive you home following your procedure. You will receive a reminder call the day before your appointment. In an effort to assist with the efficiency and quality of your care, Cascade Spine Center may need to adjust your arrival time. If you have any questions about your appointment, please call Cascade Spine Center or Dr. Swarztrauber’s office at (503) 783-3090. A nurse will be calling you approximately one week prior to your scheduled appointment. The nurse will go through your medical history, explain the procedure, and answer any questions you might have. Please be aware that a block of time has been reserved for you to have this procedure. Much time and planning goes into making this a comfortable and safe experience. While we understand that situations arise that would cause you to cancel your appointment, cancellations with less than 48 hours notice of your procedure may incur a $75 charge.
